Chairman FBR, Finance Secretary Honor Budget Team Behind Federal Budget 2026-27

Islamabad (Web Desk) — Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Rashid Mahmood Langrial and Finance Secretary Imdad Ullah Bosal hosted a luncheon to recognize and appreciate the core team responsible for the successful preparation of Pakistan’s Federal Budget 2026-27.
The event brought together FBR Board Members and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and FBR, celebrating the collaborative efforts that culminated in what officials described as a people-centric and growth-oriented budget.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman FBR Rashid Mahmood Langrial praised the team’s professionalism, dedication, and relentless efforts in crafting a budget designed to support economic growth while providing relief to citizens. He highlighted the complexity of the exercise, which required extensive coordination among revenue authorities, the Tax Policy Office (TPO), federal ministries, parliamentary committees, provincial governments, and international stakeholders, including the IMF.

He noted that despite the challenging environment, all planned budget measures were successfully delivered, reflecting the strong coordination between FBR and the Tax Policy Office.
Finance Secretary Imdad Ullah Bosal congratulated the team, emphasizing that the success of a budget depends not only on sound policy design but also on the ability of multiple institutions to work in harmony toward a common objective.
During the ceremony, several key officials were individually recognized for their outstanding contributions. Member (Strategic Transformation) Dr. Hamid Ateeq Sarwar was commended for leading the budget process across key forums, including IMF negotiations and engagements with parliamentary standing committees.
Director General TPO Dr. Najeeb Memon received recognition for advocating relief measures within the framework of Pakistan’s IMF program and highlighting their importance for sustainable economic growth.
Member (Customs Policy) Ashad Jawad was praised for leading customs-related budget negotiations, while Member (Administration) Muhammad Iqbal Khan was acknowledged for ensuring seamless logistical arrangements throughout the budget cycle.
Directors TPO Ajaz Hussain and Chaudhry Munir Ahmed were appreciated for their dedication and professionalism. Project Director TDU Dr. Najeebullah was recognized for his commitment and technical expertise, while Special Assistant to Member (Strategic Transformation) Dr. Zehra Farooq was commended for her research-driven policy support.
Special Assistant to Member (Policy) Ali Abbas was honored for his role in drafting legislation and coordinating the compilation of the Finance Bill, ensuring the integration of inputs from multiple stakeholders into a coherent final document.
The luncheon concluded with appreciation for the cross-institutional coordination, intellectual rigor, and sustained dedication that contributed to the successful formulation of the Federal Budget 2026-27.
