CDA Seals Marriott Hotel in Islamabad for Legal Violations
CDA Warns Marriott Hotel: Violations Endanger Public Safety and Violate Building Codes
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Building Control Team sealed the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad on Wednesday due to several legal violations. The hotel was found to be operating without a completion certificate, which the CDA stated poses a significant safety risk to the public.
Key violations identified by the CDA include the illegal use of the basement for storage purposes, unauthorized construction in mandatory setbacks, and the establishment of a marquee without the necessary approvals. Furthermore, the hotel is in arrears, with outstanding dues amounting to approximately Rs. 160 million. The CDA also highlighted the illegal establishment of a parking lot on the green belt, in violation of city regulations.
The CDA emphasized that such violations not only endanger public safety but also violate building codes and regulations. In an attempt to enforce these actions, CDA teams arrived at the Marriott Hotel around 6 PM to seal the Marquee Hall. However, the hall was unsealed just 30 minutes later, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the CDA’s enforcement efforts.
