CDA Approves Game-Changing Urban Reforms

13th CDA Board Meeting Focuses on Governance Reforms, Public Transport, and Anti-Encroachment Measures

ISLAMABAD-(Mudassar Iqbal)- The Capital Development Authority (CDA) held its 13th Board meeting at its Islamabad headquarters today. The meeting was presided over by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Members present included Talat Mehmood (Administration & Estate), Tahir Naeem (Finance), Esfandyar Baloch (Environment), Dr. Khalid Hafiz (Planning), and Syed Nafasat Raza (Engineering). Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, joined the session via Zoom. A variety of key issues were discussed during the meeting.

In light of the Islamabad High Court’s decision, the CDA Board approved conditional restoration of Plot No. 6, Blue Area, Sector G-8/F-8, Islamabad, till the final decision on CDA’s appeal in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in this case.

The Board approved the restructuring of the CDA Security Directorate in order to further enhance its efficiency, improve the monitoring system, as well as ensure internal accountability on merit.

The 13th CDA Board meeting also decided to reorganize the Enforcement Directorate CDA in order to remove illegal encroachments and illegal constructions in Islamabad as well as sealing of unauthorised buildings thus contributing to making the city developed, clean, green and beautiful.

The Board approved amendments to the existing criteria for the promotion of CDA’s non-gazetted employees.

CDA Accelerates Beautification Drive to Transform Islamabad into a Model Capital

A committee was formed to review and recommend the extension of employment for project employees of CDA Hospital, examining all legal aspects before a final decision is made.

A briefing was given on improving the operations of metro and aircondtioned electric buses. The Board decided to further enhance the efficiency of electric bus operations by introducing third-party evaluations, e-ticketing, and an AI-based integrated system for passengers.

Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that the development and prosperity of Islamabad are CDA’s top priorities.

While CDA is executing development projects across various sectors, it is also taking measures to address the housing needs of the citizens of Islamabad with best of its abilities. Additionally, efforts are also underway to improve the city’s environment by planting eco-friendly trees and upgrading parks and grounds. Furthermore, CDA is utilizing its resources generated through different sources by CDA itself in order to fund development projects, ensuring Islamabad becomes a model Capital.
