Court Receives Case Registration Plea Against Fazlur Rehman Over Army Comments

Gujranwala: (Our Correspondent) – A petition seeking the registration of a case against Jamiat Ulema-e-IslamJamiat Ulema-e-Islam Proposes Judicial Reforms with New Supreme Court Bench Structure (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been filed in Gujranwala over his remarks concerning the Pakistan Army.

The application was submitted by Advocate Manzoor Qadir Bhinder. Additional Sessions Judge Faisal Jameel issued notices to the SHO Civil Lines and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, directing them to appear before the court on July 28.

The court also instructed police authorities to submit a report on the matter by the same date. The petitioner has requested legal action against the JUI-F chief over what he described as controversial remarks made during a speech.

Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Allama Tahir Ashrafi also criticized the comments, saying an apology should be offered to the families of martyrs over statements related to their sacrifices.

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, MQM-Pakistan Chairman Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and PTI Chairman also responded to the remarks, saying that connecting the sacrifices of martyrs with their salaries was inappropriate and unfair to the fallen soldiers and their families.
