FIA Forms JIT, Arrests Suspects in Social Media Campaign Case

Lahore: A case has been registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill and senior journalist Imran Riaz for launching a social media campaign against the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) filed the charges, accusing the two of inciting negative propaganda on social media against the provincial leadership.

According to the FIA, the individuals were apprehended in Faisalabad and Jatoi, and their arrests are part of an ongoing investigation. The agency also mentioned that a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to facilitate the inquiry and ensure the swift apprehension of all involved parties.

The move comes amid rising tensions in the political landscape, with the FIA asserting that those responsible for spreading misleading or defamatory content on social media platforms will be held accountable under the law.
