British High Commissioner Meets with Speaker National Assembly, Pledges to Strengthen Pakistan-UK Relations
Underlining the significance of parliamentary cooperation, Speaker Sadiq stressed the pivotal role of parliamentary diplomacy in bolstering bilateral relations.
Islamabad: In a positive step towards enhancing bilateral ties, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq welcomed the British High Commissioner to Pakistan for a fruitful discussion on further strengthening the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, Speaker Sadiq emphasized the paramount importance Pakistan places on its enduring relations with the UK, rooted in mutual respect and shared perspectives on various regional and international issues. He highlighted the need to reinforce this cordial bond through increased people-to-people interactions, parliamentary engagements, and economic cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Underlining the significance of parliamentary cooperation, Speaker Sadiq stressed the pivotal role of parliamentary diplomacy in bolstering bilateral relations. He proposed continuous exchange and collaboration between the two parliaments through parliamentary friendship groups and high-level exchanges to facilitate mutual learning and sharing of experiences. As a gesture of goodwill, an invitation would be extended to the Speaker of the House of Commons for a visit to Pakistan along with parliamentarians.
Recognizing the invaluable contribution of the Pakistani diaspora, Speaker Sadiq commended their efforts in advancing the interests of both countries. He affirmed their status as a precious asset to Pakistan and pledged to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to facilitate overseas Pakistanis. Additionally, he urged the UK to consider offering more educational opportunities, such as scholarships, to Pakistani students.
