SYDENY: There was a strong reaction on social media after reports revealed that the Bondi Beach shooter had an Indian connection. According to media reports, a friend of the attacker told outlets that Sydney gunman Naveed Akram had an Indian father and an Italian mother.
The revelation triggered widespread discussion online, with users stressing that the background or nationality of the attacker should not be used to fuel hatred or propaganda. Many emphasized that violence against innocent civilians can never be justified under any circumstances.
“No matter the background, targeting innocent people celebrating a festival is pure evil and has no place in any community or religion,” several users wrote on social media.

Others strongly condemned the attack, particularly as it targeted members of the Jewish community at Bondi Beach. “We unequivocally condemn this attack on the Jewish community. Violence like this brings shame to humanity itself,” another post read.
Users also called for responsible reporting and urged authorities to focus on justice for the victims rather than allowing misinformation or political narratives to spread online. The incident has renewed calls for unity, tolerance and firm action against all forms of extremism.
