Bomb Disposal Official Killed in IED Blast During Clearance Operation in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: (Our Correspondent) – A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) official was killed on Tuesday after a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) exploded during a clearance operation in Peshawar’s Hassan Khel police jurisdiction.
According to police, the official, identified as Khaista Rehman, was attempting to defuse the suspected explosive when it detonated, killing him on the spot.
Following the blast, security personnel cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. Police teams began collecting evidence from the scene to determine the nature of the explosive device and identify those responsible for planting it.
Authorities said further investigations are underway, and efforts are being made to trace those involved in the incident.
The latest attack underscores the continued risks faced by bomb disposal personnel working to neutralize explosive threats in the region.
