BISP to Provide Affordable Housing Solutions to Beneficiary Women in Sindh
BISP Chairperson and Sindh Chief Secretary Discuss Strengthening Collaboration
Karachi – In a significant step to enhance the effectiveness of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) in Sindh, BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid held a constructive meeting with the Chief Secretary of Sindh, Syed Asif Hyder Shah, at the Chief Secretary’s Office in Karachi.
The meeting, which centered on improving coordination and the overall efficiency of BISP’s operations, covered a range of key issues. A major focus was placed on enhancing security and logistics at BISP payment centers to ensure smooth and timely disbursement of funds to deserving beneficiaries. Both parties agreed on the need for joint investigations between the Sindh government and BISP staff to swiftly address any grievances or complaints raised during the payments to eligible women.
In addition, discussions also touched upon the allocation of government land for the establishment of BISP offices across Sindh, which would facilitate efficient service delivery and outreach to beneficiaries. Senator Khalid and Chief Secretary Shah also explored the possibility of including BISP beneficiary women in the Sindh government’s proposed affordable housing project, aimed at providing shelter to vulnerable segments of society.
Chief Secretary Syed Asif Hyder Shah reaffirmed the Sindh government’s commitment to supporting BISP’s social protection initiatives, emphasizing that the provincial government would continue to actively collaborate with BISP to ensure the success of its programs.
Senator Rubina Khalid expressed her appreciation for the Chief Secretary’s proactive approach, highlighting the significance of inter-institutional collaboration in driving socio-economic development and poverty alleviation in the region. She stressed the importance of a coordinated effort between the two entities in making a tangible impact on the lives of Sindh’s most vulnerable populations.
