Bishnoi Gang’s Public Threats: A New Chapter in the Salman Khan Saga
After Years of Tensions, Salman Faces Renewed Danger from Notorious Criminal Group
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and issued a direct threat to Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
In a Facebook post allegedly authored by Shubu Lonkar, an associate of the gang, a warning was issued specifically targeting Salman, who has long been on the gang’s radar. Lonkar connected Siddique’s killing to the death of Anuj Thapan, who died by suicide on May 1 while in police custody after being arrested for firing shots outside Salman Khan’s apartment in Mumbai on April 14. The post alleged that Salman was responsible for Thapan’s death and stated that Siddique’s murder was tied to his links with Dawood Ibrahim, Anuj Thapan, and their involvement in Bollywood, politics, and real estate.
“We did not want this conflict, but your actions led to our brother’s death,” the post addressed to Salman claimed. “There is no personal animosity, but anyone who supports Salman Khan or the Dawood gang should be ready for repercussions.”
While the police have yet to verify the authenticity of the Facebook post, they have arrested Pravin Lonkar, Shubham’s brother, who is believed to be a co-conspirator in the murder. Shubham is still at large.
Baba Siddique, aged 66, a prominent NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead by three assailants outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Kher Nagar, Bandra, on Saturday night. Despite being rushed to Lilavati Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to the crime branch, Pravin Lonkar and Shubham recruited two shooters: Dharmaraj Rajesh Kashyap from Uttar Pradesh and Shivkumar Gautam, who is currently evading capture. The police have arrested Kashyap along with another suspect, Gurmail Baljit Singh, a 23-year-old from Haryana.
Following the incident, Salman Khan, who was a close friend of Siddique, went to the hospital on Saturday night to support Siddique’s family and later visited his home to pay his respects. Siddique was well-known in the Bollywood community for hosting lavish Iftar parties, one of which famously facilitated the reconciliation between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan after a prolonged feud.
Salman Khan has been a target of the Bishnoi gang since Lawrence Bishnoi threatened him over his involvement in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case, in which Salman allegedly killed animals revered by the Bishnoi community. Earlier this year, Salman received threats via email, and two men fired shots outside his residence in Mumbai on April 14. This led to several arrests, including that of Anuj Thapan, who later died in custody on May 1.
The police are actively investigating the case and have ramped up security around Salman Khan due to the renewed threats from the Bishnoi gang.
