Push for Efficient Union Council Record-Keeping

ISLAMABAD: In a move aimed at modernizing civil documentation, the Balochistan government has announced the integration of Bolan Medical Complex and Sandeman Provincial Hospital with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) for issuing digital birth and death certificates.

The announcement was made by Secretary of Local Government and Rural Development, Abdul Rauf Baloch, during a high-level meeting on Tuesday. He termed the initiative a major step towards full digitisation of the civil registration process in the province.

“Birth and death records have already been digitised in collaboration with NADRA, and further improvements are underway to strengthen the Civil Registration Management System across Balochistan,” he said.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Health Secretary Mujeebur Rehman Panizai, Local Government Board Secretary Shujaat Hussain, NADRA Balochistan Director General Naveed Jan Sahibzada, Assistant Directors Faizullah Kakar and Rizwan Magsi, Director of the Balochistan Health Card Dr. Ahmad Wali, and other senior officials from the Health Department and NADRA.

Officials also discussed making Union Council offices more efficient in processing birth, death, marriage, and divorce certificates. The establishment of an investigative committee was proposed to evaluate current registration records and resolve any issues hindering accurate documentation.
