Azad Kashmir Launches Online Census of Private Schools

Muzaffarabad-(Special Correspondent)_Azad Kashmir has become the first unit in Pakistan to conduct an online census of private educational institutions, marking a significant milestone in education policy implementation. According to a press release by Syed Salim Gurdizi, Chairman of Azad Kashmir Private Educational Institutions Registering Authority, this initiative aims to collect comprehensive data on private institutions [1).

The census is crucial for policy formulation, decision-making, infrastructure provision, resource distribution, and facility allocation in education. Although government institutions are surveyed annually, private institutions have not been comprehensively surveyed until now [2).

To facilitate the census, the Registration and Regulation Authority of Private Institutions in Azad Kashmir has collaborated with the Directorate of Education Management Information System (EMIS). Educational institutions can access guidance materials, including videos and tutorials, on the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s website [3).

Registered institutions have been provided with usernames and passwords, accessible through district-level focal persons. Chairman Syed Saleem Hussain Gurdizi has urged stakeholders, including private schools and colleges associations, and various organizations, to cooperate fully in the education census ¹.

This initiative demonstrates Azad Kashmir’s commitment to education development, setting a precedent for other provinces and administrative units in Pakistan.

Some notable organizations involved in this initiative include:

– Azad Kashmir Private Schools and Colleges Association
– Redfoundation
– Citizens Foundation
– Character Education Foundation
– Safa
– Mustafa
– Muslim Hands
– Minhaj Al-Quran School Systems
