Ayesha Omar Raises Alarm Over Underage Drivers in Sindh

KARACHI: (Showbiz Desk) – Pakistani actress Ayesha Omar has raised concerns over what she described as the growing presence of underage drivers on Sindh’s roads, questioning the lack of visible traffic enforcement and police patrols on the Karachi-Hyderabad route.

Taking to her Instagram story, Ayesha reshared a viral video that appeared to show a minor driving a vehicle on a public road. While describing the incident as shocking and unacceptable, she said the issue was not limited to the individual clip.

The actress shared her own experience from the previous day, claiming she had encountered numerous children and teenagers driving vehicles on the Karachi-Hyderabad highway. She said some of the youngsters appeared to be around 13 or 14 years old.

Ayesha said she had seen at least two dozen children of a similar age group, along with several others who were slightly older or younger, driving vehicles along the highway.

She also claimed that numerous teenagers were riding motorcycles and suggested that underage drivers were widespread in the area.

The actress expressed particular concern over what she described as the absence of effective enforcement. According to Ayesha, the highway remained heavily congested for hours, yet she did not notice sufficient police presence or patrols checking young drivers.

She questioned the role of the Sindh government in enforcing traffic regulations and ensuring road safety, while also highlighting the responsibility of parents in preventing minors from driving.

Ayesha’s comments have added to a broader public debate over underage driving in Pakistan, where children operating cars and motorcycles without the required age, training or licence can pose significant risks to themselves and other road users.

Her remarks have also renewed calls for stronger enforcement, greater parental supervision and regular monitoring of major roads and highways to discourage underage driving and improve road safety.
