Atta Tarar Slams Effort to Link 190 Million Pounds Case with ‘Religious Aspects’

Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar has stated that the main culprits in the corruption case are Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi, while the others involved are accomplices.

In a media briefing, Tarar emphasized that the recent court ruling was a landmark decision, calling the 190 million-pound case “open and shut.” He described it as the largest robbery in Pakistan’s history, explaining that the funds were intended for public welfare but were instead used to build a new house worth 25 crore rupees by the PTI founder. He demanded an explanation of Imran Khan’s sources of income and pointed out that the investigation into the 190 million pounds was carried out by British authorities.

Tarar also condemned the use of religion in politics, stating that PTI was exploiting religious sentiments to cover up their crimes. He said that the criminal activities committed by the PTI leadership were now exposed, and the closed envelope presented before the Cabinet was not opened. However, the money was returned to the same entity from which it had been seized, proving the corruption and robbery.

The Minister stressed that religious scholars unanimously agreed that religion should not be politicized. He also highlighted that the entire world had reported the conviction of the former Prime Minister for corruption. Tarar mentioned that following the verdict, attention would be given to the fate of the recovered funds, with the legal team currently working on the matter.

In addition, Tarar revealed that the government had taken control of the Al-Qadir University, and the Ministry of Interior was overseeing efforts to bring back absconders. He reiterated that the main culprits in the case were Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, with the others being accomplices.

He further claimed that those who had received bribes and benefits were the ones who set up the trust. He added that if other members of the Cabinet had been involved in the trust, they too would face punishment. Tarar concluded by stating that Imran Khan was never truthful or trustworthy (Sadiq and Ameen).
