“ATM Shutdown Rumors Refuted in Latest Official Advisory”

The National Computer Emergency Response Team and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) have jointly debunked rumors of a nationwide ATM and online banking shutdown.

An investigation by the SBP and other authorities found no evidence to support these claims, confirming that the country’s banking infrastructure is fully operational.

To address public concerns, the National Computer Emergency Response Team issued an advisory reassuring citizens that cyber teams are closely monitoring the security of financial institutions. The SBP also emphasized the importance of online safety, warning against clicking on suspicious links, sharing personal information, and neglecting to log out after online banking sessions.

A central bank spokesperson reiterated that online banking and ATM services are functioning normally, urging the public to disregard social media rumors. The SBP is working closely with banks and OneLink to ensure the security of the financial infrastructure and digital payment systems, strictly adhering to IT and security guidelines.
