Rawalpindi ATC grants 8-day remand to 41 PTI workers after Adiala Jail clash

Rawalpindi Adiala Jail – (Web Desk) – An Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi on Wednesday approved an eight-day physical remand for 41 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers who were arrested after a clash with police outside Adiala Jail.

The workers were brought to court after being taken into custody on Adiala Road. Police say they resisted during a crackdown. The prosecution had requested a 20-day remand, but the court allowed eight days and ordered the suspects to be presented again on April 16. The case was heard by Judge Amjad Ali Shah.

During the hearing, Prosecutor Zaheer Shah told the court that the group had gathered unlawfully in violation of Section 144. He said the protesters did not follow police instructions to disperse and instead allegedly attacked officers.

Police also reported that nine officials were injured due to stone-pelting during the clash. The prosecution added that the suspects tried to put pressure on the Punjab government through violent actions. They further said that items linked to arson and mobile phones still need to be recovered as part of the investigation.

The incident occurred a day earlier when Aleema Khan staged a sit-in on Adiala Road after being denied a meeting with the PTI founder. Police later launched an operation to disperse the protesters, during which clashes broke out and stones were reportedly thrown at police personnel.

Following the arrests of party workers, Aleema Khan left the protest site in the evening.
