Asim Shezad Shines at Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship 2024, Wins 4 Gold Medals

Pakistan's strong start in the Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship 2024 signals a bright future for powerlifting in the country.

Tashkent: Pakistan’s powerlifting sensation, Asim Shezad, stole the spotlight at the Asian Classic Powerlifting Championship 2024, held from December 1–10, 2024, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Competing in the 66-kg Masters-1 category, Asim made a remarkable debut in international powerlifting by securing four gold medals.

Representing Pakistan WAPDA and as the 2024 National Powerlifting Champion, Asim delivered an exceptional performance across four events:

  • Squat: 190 kg
  • Bench Press: 100 kg
  • Deadlift: 215 kg
  • Overall Total: 505 kg

This outstanding achievement reflects Asim’s dedication, skill, and the remarkable strength of Pakistani athletes. It marks a significant milestone for him, as this was his first international competition, where he made an immediate impact by clinching the gold in all categories.

The performance was highly praised by the Pakistani team’s manager, Arshad Khan, Senior Vice President, who expressed his pride in Asim’s success, saying, “Pakistani powerlifters have proven their strength and potential to compete at the highest level. This is a fantastic start on Day 1, and we are optimistic about even greater results in the coming days.”

Asim’s victory is just the beginning for the Pakistani team, which is looking forward to further success in the championship. Dr. Adnan, Ather Butt, and Nooh are also set to compete in their respective categories, with hopes of adding more medals to Pakistan’s tally. Arshad Khan further added, “These athletes are prepared to give tough competition to international champions. InshAllah, we are confident of bringing home more medals for Pakistan.”
