Asia Cup Trophies to Eventually Reach BCCI Headquarters

ISLAMABAD: (Sports Desk) – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said the men’s and women’s Asia Cup trophies will eventually be transferred to its headquarters in Mumbai, although no specific timeline has been provided.

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said on Friday that both trophies would “one day” reach the board’s office at Wankhede Stadium but declined to specify when the transfer would take place.

The trophies are currently at the headquarters of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dubai after the Indian men’s and women’s teams declined to receive the silverware from ACC President Mohsin Naqvi during the official presentations.

India’s women’s team, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, did not attend the official trophy presentation after defeating Sri Lanka in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup final last week.

The Indian men’s team had taken a similar position after winning the previous edition of the tournament in 2025.

Speaking following the BCCI’s 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai, Saikia said the board was unable to provide a definite timeframe for the trophies’ return.

However, he maintained that both pieces of silverware would eventually be brought to the BCCI headquarters.

For now, the two Asia Cup trophies remain with the ACC in Dubai, with their transfer to the BCCI office in Mumbai still pending.
