Asia Cup Thriller: Bangladesh Defeats Afghanistan by 8 Runs

DUBAI: In a thrilling encounter in the 9th match of the Asia Cup T20 tournament, Bangladesh edged past Afghanistan by 8 runs in a closely fought contest held in Abu Dhabi.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 154 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Tanzid Hasan led the batting charge with a solid 52-run knock, while Saif Hassan contributed 30 runs and Towhid Hridoy chipped in with 26.

For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad were the pick of the bowlers, taking 2 wickets each.

Chasing 155 for victory, Afghanistan fought hard but fell short, managing 146 runs in their 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 35 runs, Azmatullah Omarzai added 30, and Rashid Khan made a quick 20, but their efforts weren’t enough to cross the finish line.

Bangladesh’s bowling unit held their nerves under pressure. Mustafizur Rahman claimed 3 wickets, while Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad each picked up 2 wickets to seal the victory.
