Another Australian Cricketer Declines Indian Team Coaching Role

The BCCI is currently in search of a new head coach for the national team, following these high-profile rejections.

Sydney:  Following in the footsteps of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, another prominent Australian cricketer, Justin Langer, has declined the opportunity to coach the Indian cricket team.

According to media reports, Justin Langer, who previously coached the Australian national team, has turned down the coaching role for the Indian team. This decision comes shortly after Ricky Ponting also refused the same offer.

In a recent podcast, Langer discussed his decision, acknowledging that while coaching the Indian team is a prestigious role, he has chosen to withdraw from the running. “Coaching is an all-encompassing job,” Langer stated. “I coached the Australian team for four years, and to be honest, it was an exhausting experience. I spoke with KL Rahul, the captain of the Lucknow Super Giants, about the pressures involved.”

Langer elaborated on his conversation with Rahul, noting that Rahul explained the intense pressure and politics in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and how it would multiply in the context of coaching the national team. “Rahul advised that if there’s pressure and politics in the IPL, it’s a thousand times greater in the national team. It’s a valuable piece of advice. It’s a fantastic job, but not for me at this time,” Langer added.
