Ambassador Mumtaz Baloch Leads Pakistan at Global Science Diplomacy Dialogue

PARIS: Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch led Pakistan’s delegation at the inaugural Global Ministerial Dialogue on Science Diplomacy held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

In her speech, Ambassador Baloch highlighted the following key points:

• Science Diplomacy for Global Peace: She emphasized that science diplomacy is essential for finding common solutions to international challenges and fostering global peace.

• Addressing Barriers for the Global South: Ambassador Baloch noted that the Global South continues to face systemic barriers to full participation in the global scientific community. She called for bridging this divide, promoting scientific collaboration, and democratizing scientific progress and innovation.

• Pakistan’s Commitment to Science Diplomacy: The ambassador outlined Pakistan’s commitment to global knowledge sharing, collaborative research, and scientific innovation for socioeconomic development, showcasing the country’s growing role in science diplomacy.

• Call for a Global Compact: Ambassador Baloch urged the international community to move towards a Global Compact to build constructive partnerships in science and promote open and secure scientific practices.

The event brought together global leaders and experts to discuss the future of science diplomacy and its role in addressing worldwide challenges.
