Islamabad IG, DC removed on ECP orders

President Dr Arif Alvi Monday approved the removal of Ahad Khan Cheema from the post of Advisor to the Caretaker Prime Minister on Establishment (APME).
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar had sent a summary of the removal of Ahad Khan Cheema to the President on the instructions of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The President approved the removal of Ahad Cheema from the post under Article 48-1 of the Constitution on the advice of the Caretaker Prime Minister.

Following the orders of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Islamabad IGP Akbar Nasir Khan and Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon were removed from their respective posts with immediate effect.

The ECP wrote three letters to the Prime Minister’s Office for their removal. In October, the ECP had issued orders to remove the DC and IG from their posts.

The Election Commission on Thursday issued a directive to the Establishment Division Secretary, ordering the removal of both the Inspector General (IG) Police and Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Islamabad.

This action was prompted by a letter from the Election Commission to the Establishment Division, demanding the removal of the IG and DC in Islamabad.

The specific instructions entail the removal of Irfan Nawaz Memon, who serves as the DC in Islamabad, and Akbar Nasir Khan, the IG in Islamabad, from their current positions.

ECP revises schedule for general election 2024

Additionally, the ECP has instructed the Establishment Division to promptly notify them in writing once the removal and replacement of the IG and DC have been completed.
