Schools Closed Amid Security Concerns; No Online Classes Announced
Islamabad — As regional tensions between Pakistan and India continue to escalate, the federal and provincial governments have announced the closure of all educational institutions across Islamabad and Punjab as a precautionary measure.
According to an official notification issued by the District Magistrate, all public and private schools and colleges in Islamabad will remain closed on May 9 and 10 (Friday and Saturday), 2025.
In a similar move, the Punjab government has declared that all educational institutions in the province—including schools, colleges, and universities, both public and private—will remain closed until Sunday. The announcement was confirmed by the provincial education minister.

Authorities cited the uncertain security environment and the need to ensure the safety of students and staff as the primary reasons for the temporary closures. No online learning alternative has been announced so far.
This step comes amid heightened alert across various sectors in the country following increased tensions along the border and growing concerns over regional stability.
