Federal Minister announces ambitious plan for National Highway Authority's financial growth

Aleem Khan Sets Ambitious Rs500 Billion Revenue Target for National Highway Authority

Federal Minister for Investment Board, Communications, and Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan has unveiled an ambitious plan to elevate the National Highway Authority’s (NHA) revenue target to Rs500 billion over the next five years. During a recent press conference, Khan expressed his determination to leverage all available resources for the country’s development, stating, “My recognition is due to my country, and I am committed to achieving this goal.”

Since assuming office, Khan has successfully overseen a significant increase in NHA’s annual revenue, which has risen to Rs110 billion from Rs64 billion. He attributed this growth to focused efforts, noting, “The income of NHA rose by over Rs50 billion, but I have refrained from making noise about it. My focus remains on results.”

A key initiative during his tenure has been the transition of 99% of vehicles on the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway to the M-Tag system, which has improved traffic flow and streamlined toll collection. To further enhance operations, Khan has instructed authorities to implement advanced vehicle monitoring through number plate recognition and side cameras, aiming to curb violations and optimize efficiency.

Khan expressed optimism about NHA’s performance over the past six months, calling the latest data “encouraging” and emphasizing that it sets a solid foundation for financial independence. Additionally, he announced a crackdown on overloaded trucks operating on motorways and national highways, stressing that such vehicles cause significant damage to road infrastructure. “No truck will be allowed to travel with extra load,” he asserted.

With the Rs500 billion goal in sight, Khan outlined his vision for transforming NHA into a global player capable of competing internationally. He highlighted ongoing efforts across more than 100 NHA projects, indicating a strong growth pipeline. “I want NHA to secure tenders, grow revenue, and become a global company. With Allah’s grace, I am confident we will succeed,” he declared.

In closing, Khan reaffirmed his commitment to reaching the ambitious revenue target, stating, “The day NHA reaches the Rs500 billion mark, I will know that, by Allah’s grace, I have fulfilled my mission.”
