Federal Government Reaffirms Commitment to Stability in Kashmir

ISLAMABAD:(Web Desk)  Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Tuesday said the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) remains under control and that authorities are taking all necessary measures to safeguard the lives and property of citizens.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament House, the minister said normalcy had largely returned across the region following recent unrest.

“The situation in Azad Kashmir is under control, and the lives and property of the people are being protected,” Chaudhry stated when asked about current conditions in the region.

Referring to recent developments, the minister claimed that a banned organisation was being exposed and noted that an audio recording related to the matter had surfaced recently.

Chaudhry said the federal government had acted in good faith to address concerns raised in AJK and had already begun implementing the demands put forward by various groups.

“The federal government had started implementing all the demands in a very sincere manner,” he said, while questioning why some protests continued despite progress on those issues.

The minister stressed that legislative authority belongs to the elected representatives of the people of Kashmir and emphasized the importance of democratic institutions in addressing regional concerns.

“It is the right of Kashmiris to make laws,” he said, adding that decisions regarding governance should remain within constitutional and democratic frameworks.

Chaudhry maintained that the federal government had made every possible effort to resolve issues related to AJK and restore stability across the region.

He specifically mentioned areas including Rawalakot, stating that conditions were now normal and under control.

When asked about reported fatalities linked to the unrest, the minister said the government would issue a detailed statement on the matter at an appropriate time.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions surrounding recent protests, security concerns, and political developments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
