Amir Balaj Shot Dead
In February, Amir Balaj Tipu, also known as Tipu Truckanwala and the son of Arif Ameer, was fatally shot in a targeted killing in Lahore’s Chuhng area. Balaj, in his early 30s, was at a wedding when an armed assailant attacked him. The shooting also injured three of Balaj’s companions. In return fire by Balaj’s security, the assailant was killed. All four injured individuals were rushed to Jinnah Hospital, but Balaj succumbed to his injuries due to severe bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds.
Following the attack, a large police contingent, including senior officers, arrived at the hospital due to concerns about potential clashes, given the longstanding feuds involving Balaj’s family. PML-N’s MNA-elect Attaullah Tarar also visited the hospital in response to the incident.
