PCB's Move to Rest Babar, Shaheen, and Naseem Praised by Former All-Rounder
Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Monday voiced his support for the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) decision to rest key players Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah for the remainder of the England series.
Sharing his opinion, Afridi said, “Resting senior players opens up opportunities for younger talent to step up and represent the team.”
He added, “This move will help in building a strong bench for the future.”
PCB Reveals Reasons for Resting Babar Azam and Others
A few days ago, the PCB explained its decision to rest Babar Azam and other senior players from the ongoing Test series against England.
“Babar Azam is one of the top players of his generation, and the PCB wants to ensure his mental readiness for future matches,” the PCB said in a statement. “After considering Pakistan’s packed international schedule, the team’s need to bounce back in the England series, and the players’ current form, it was decided to rest Babar, Naseem Shah, Sarfraz Ahmed, and Shaheen Afridi.”
The PCB emphasized that young and in-form domestic players are being given a chance to showcase their abilities against a strong England side.
Earlier, the PCB had made the call to drop Azam, Shah, Ahmed, and Afridi after Pakistan’s recent struggles on the field.
