A Call for Justice: Standing with Humanity Against Aggression

By: Zahid Shakoor Ch.

The recent escalation between Israel and Iran, marked by Israel’s so-called “Operation Rising Lion,” represents not just another military conflict, but a dangerous precedent of unchecked aggression that threatens the very foundation of international law and human dignity.
What we are witnessing is not self-defense, but calculated aggression. Israel’s systematic targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities, military installations, and civilian areas under the guise of “Operation Rising Lion” is nothing short of state terrorism. The stated objectives – dismantling Iran’s nuclear program, reducing its military capabilities, and overthrowing the Iranian regime – reveal the true nature of this assault, an attempt to reshape the Middle East through brute force.

As a Pakistani, I have witnessed how the Palestinian people have suffered for decades under Israeli occupation. Now, we see this aggression extending to Iran, with innocent Iranian civilians paying the price for geopolitical ambitions. Every missile that falls on Iranian soil, every family displaced, every life lost – these are not mere statistics but human tragedies that demand our collective outrage.

In these dark times, I am proud to see the dignified response of Islamic nations. Saudi Arabia’s measured diplomacy, Pakistan’s consistent support for Palestinian rights, Turkey’s vocal condemnation of Israeli actions, and China’s calls for restraint demonstrate the responsible approach of nations committed to peace and justice.

Most notably, Oman’s exemplary conduct deserves special recognition. The Sultanate’s principled stance, its commitment to dialogue over conflict, and its consistent advocacy for peaceful resolution of disputes exemplify the noble character that all nations should aspire to. Oman’s wisdom in navigating complex regional dynamics while maintaining its moral compass is a beacon of hope in these troubled times.

What is equally disturbing is the silence and complicity of Western nations that claim to champion human rights and international law. Germany, France, the United Kingdom, and the United States – nations that lecture the world about democracy and justice – have failed to condemn Israeli aggression with the same vigor they reserve for other conflicts.

This selective application of international law undermines the very institutions these nations helped create. How can they speak of sovereignty and territorial integrity while turning a blind eye to Israel’s blatant violations of these principles? Their continued support of Israeli actions makes them complicit in the suffering of innocent people.

The international community must act decisively to bring Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government before international courts for their crimes against humanity. The targeting of civilian infrastructure, the deliberate escalation of regional tensions, and the systematic violation of international law cannot go unpunished.

We demand that the International Criminal Court investigate these actions and issue arrest warrants for those responsible. Justice delayed is justice denied, and the world cannot afford to let another generation of innocents suffer while war criminals walk free.

To resolve this crisis and prevent future aggression, I propose the following framework:

*Immediate Actions:*
– An immediate ceasefire overseen by the United Nations
– Humanitarian corridors for civilians in affected areas
– Emergency session of the UN Security Council with binding resolutions

*Long-term Solutions:*
– Establishment of a nuclear-weapon-free zone in the Middle East
– International peacekeeping force deployment in conflict zones
– Mandatory mediation through neutral Islamic countries like Oman

*Economic Measures:*
– Comprehensive sanctions on Israel until it complies with international law
– Boycott of Israeli products and services by Islamic nations
– Increased trade partnerships among Islamic countries to reduce dependence on Western markets

This crisis presents an opportunity for the Islamic world to demonstrate unity and strength. I call upon all Islamic nations to:

1. *Stand United:* Present a unified front in international forums, speaking with one voice against aggression and injustice.2. *Economic Integration:* Develop robust trade relationships within the Islamic world. Countries like Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, Malaysia, and the UAE should prioritize trade partnerships that strengthen our collective economic independence.
3. *Technological Cooperation:* Share knowledge and resources in defense, technology, and development to reduce dependence on nations that support our oppressors.
4. *Diplomatic Solidarity:* Support each other in international bodies, ensuring that no Islamic nation stands alone against aggression.

To the peoples of the world who believe in justice and human dignity, do not let your governments’ silence speak for you. Raise your voices, demand accountability, and stand with the oppressed regardless of their nationality or religion.

To the Western powers, your credibility as champions of democracy and human rights is at stake. You cannot selectively apply international law based on your geopolitical interests and expect the world to respect your moral authority.

For Islamic World, this is our moment to show that Islam’s message of peace, justice, and brotherhood is not just rhetoric but a lived reality. Let us turn this crisis into an opportunity for genuine unity and progress.

As I conclude this piece, I am reminded of the words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): “He is not one of us who does not show mercy to our young ones and does not acknowledge the honor due to our elders.” Today, it is the innocent children of Gaza, Iran, and Palestine who are our young ones in need of mercy. It is our duty as Muslims and as human beings to stand for them.
