In a resolute move against gas pilferers, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) conducted extensive raids across Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad, delivering a significant blow to unauthorized gas consumption. The crackdown resulted in the disconnection of 149 illicit connections, sending a strong message against energy theft.
The regional team in Lahore exhibited unwavering commitment by disconnecting 16 connections involved in the illegal use of gas and an additional 21 connections utilizing compressors. Imposing fines totaling Rs 0.11 million underscored the company’s determination to combat gas theft effectively.
Rawalpindi witnessed similar decisive action, with the SNGPL team disconnecting 3 connections engaged in illegal gas consumption and an additional 5 connections utilizing compressors. Multan, too, saw 3 connections severed due to unauthorized gas use and 7 connections employing compressors facing disconnection.
Peshawar and Karak emerged as focal points of the operation, witnessing the disconnection of 61 connections engaged in direct and illegal use of gas. The company imposed a substantial fine of Rs 1.959 million against gas theft cases, highlighting the financial consequences for those attempting to manipulate the system. Furthermore, the regional team lodged three FIRs against gas pilfers, ensuring legal repercussions for offenders.
