KP Governor Approves Major Increase in Police Compensation
KP Police Martyrs’ Families to Receive Millions Under Revised Package
PESHAWAR: (Staff Reporter) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has approved a substantial increase in compensation and welfare benefits for police personnel, martyrs, injured officers and their families, introducing a revised package aimed at recognising the sacrifices of the provincial police force.
Announced within 48 hours, the package includes higher compensation for police personnel martyred in the line of duty, cash assistance in place of residential plots, increased payments for injured officers, educational support for the children of martyrs and financial grants for their daughters’ marriages.
Compensation for Police Martyrs Increased
Under the revised package, compensation for police personnel who lose their lives while performing their duties has been increased across different ranks.
The compensation for personnel from constable to inspector has been raised from Rs110 million to Rs170 million. For DSPs and ASPs, the amount has increased from Rs160 million to Rs250 million.
Officers in grades 18 and 19 will now receive Rs300 million, compared with the previous Rs210 million. For officers in grade 20 and above, the compensation has been increased from Rs210 million to Rs350 million.
Cash Assistance to Replace Residential Plots
The new package replaces the allocation of residential plots to families of martyred police personnel with direct financial assistance, allowing them to purchase or construct homes according to their needs.
Families of personnel from constable to inspector will receive Rs18 million instead of a five-marla plot, while the families of DSPs and ASPs will be given Rs25 million in place of a seven-marla plot.
For families of officers in grades 18 and 19, the financial assistance has been fixed at Rs35 million instead of a 10-marla plot. Families of officers in grade 20 and above will receive Rs70 million in lieu of a one-kanal plot.
The measure is intended to help families access housing support without facing delays associated with the allocation of residential plots.
Higher Financial Assistance for Injured Officers
The package also provides increased compensation for police personnel who sustain injuries while carrying out their duties.
Financial assistance for personnel suffering permanent disabilities has been raised from Rs500,000 to Rs5 million. Payments for other personnel injured in the line of duty have increased from Rs100,000 to Rs1.5 million.
Additional Support for Police Families
Under the revised arrangements, financial assistance will also be provided to police personnel in the event of the death of an immediate family member.
A payment of Rs5 million will be made following the death of a spouse or child, while Rs3 million will be provided in the event of the death of a father, mother, brother or sister.
In addition, each daughter of a martyred police officer will receive Rs1 million as financial assistance for marriage expenses.
Salary Increases and Further Welfare Initiatives
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has also approved an increase in police salaries and directed the relevant authorities to consider further revisions to ensure that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police personnel receive salaries comparable to, or higher than, those offered in other provinces.
The welfare measures also include educational assistance for the children of martyred personnel and efforts to establish a coordinated mechanism for securing financial support from corporate organisations and banks under their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes.
The governor has further called for recruitment against vacant police posts to ease the workload on serving officers and ensure adequate staffing for public safety and law enforcement.
The package is aimed at strengthening financial security for police personnel and their families while acknowledging the sacrifices of officers who have lost their lives or sustained injuries in the line of duty.
