ISLAMABAD: In a monumental move towards sustainable energy practices, Pakistan’s foremost Exploration and Production (E&P) companies—OGDCL, PPL, and GHPL—have united in a commitment to environmental responsibility. Their proactive involvement at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai showcased a dedication to global climate initiatives, with active engagement at the Pakistan Pavilion.
During COP28, OGDCL, PPL, and GHPL took a significant step by signing the Decarbonization Charter. This pivotal agreement underscores their collective dedication to supporting climate change initiatives and the broader goal of decarbonization. The collaboration aims to propel the E&P sector toward a sustainable and environmentally conscious energy landscape, aligning business operations with global sustainability objectives.
The Pakistan Pavilion served as a hub for discussions on the nation’s decarbonization efforts. A highlighted event, the panel discussion titled “Pakistan’s Upstream Petroleum Sector and Decarbonization,” organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination in collaboration with the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) and OGDCL, featured distinguished panelists such as Ahmed Hayat Lak (MD/CEO of OGDCL), Imran Abbasy (MD/CEO of PPL), Faheem Haider (MD/CEO of MPCL), and Masood Nabi (MD/CEO of GHPL).
