Gas theft crackdown: Another 87 connections disconnected in Punjab, KP and Islamabad; Rs.3.47 million fine imposed and 117 under billing cases processed

ISLAMABAD – Caretaker Chief Minister of Sindh Justice (r) Maqbool Baqar called on interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar here on Monday.

During the meeting, the two discussed the ongoing crackdown on smuggling and power theft in Sindh, according to a press release issued here.

They also deliberated over the administrative matters as well as the law and order situation in the province.

CM Baqar apprised the prime minister of the steps taken by his government for the public welfare.

PM Kakar appreciated the Sindh government for its progress on the administrative matters under the leadership of the caretaker CM.

During the ongoing crackdown against gas pilferers, SNGPL continued raids in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, disconnecting another 87 connections while imposing fine of Rs. 3.47 million and 117 under billing cases processed.

In Lahore, the regional team disconnected 13 connections on illegal use of gas, another 03 connections on the use of compressor. In Bahawalpur, the regional team disconnected 01 connection on the use of compressor and 30 Under billing cases processed. The company disconnected 03 connections on illegal use of gas and 34 under billing cases have been processed in Multan and amount of Rs 0.067 Million have been booked against gas theft and Under billing cases.

In Sheikhupura, the regional team disconnected 24 connections on illegal use of gas and 37 Under billing cases processed. The team also booked Rs. 2.78 million against gas theft and Under billing cases.
In Peshawar, the Regional team disconnected 22 connections on account of direct use of gas and illegal connections and 16 Under billing cases processed. The The team also booked Rs. 0.59 million against gas theft.
The company disconnected 08 connections on illegal use of gas in Islamabad.
The regional team in Faisalabad, 01 meter was disconnected on the use of compressor and 03 illegal use of gas. The region also imposed fine of Rs. 0.032 million against gas theft under billing cases. In Sahiwal, 08 connections were disconnected on illegal use of gas.
