ATC orders release of PTI activists including Sanam Javed Khan

Court rejects bail pleas of 55 suspects in Jinnah House attack case,

LAHORE – An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Saturday approved bail pleas of nine suspects in a case related to attack on Jinnah House in Lahore earlier this year.

ATC Judge Arshad Javed also disposed of bail petitions filed by 55 other suspects in the case. He has granted post-arrest bail to Sanam Javed Khan, Rubina Jamil, Afshan Tariq, Ashma Shuja, Shah Bano, Syed Faisal Akhtar, Qasim, Ali Hassan and Hussain Qadri.

The judge has ordered all suspects to submit surety bonds worth Rs100,000 each for the bail.

The suspects were arrested by police for their involvement in the attack on the Jinnah House on May 9 this year in Lahore.

Violent clashes broke out across Pakistan after the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan were arrested at the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday.

The protests were held in remote and major cities as the party workers are agitated due to their chairman’s arrest, with Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad summoning the armed forces to ensure law and order.

Army installations and Corps Commander’s house in Lahore came under attack during a protest by PTI workers.

It was also reported that Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi sustained severe injuries while clearing.
