Sri Lanka Fined For Slow Over-Rate Against England

Kusal Mendis Accepts Sanction As Sri Lanka Face ICC Fine

LAHORE: (Sports Desk) – Sri Lanka have been fined five per cent of their players’ match fees for maintaining a slow over-rate during their Pakistan ODI Tri-Series encounter against England in Lahore on Thursday.

Jeff Crowe, a member of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, imposed the penalty after Sri Lanka were found to be one over short of the required rate after accounting for time allowances.

Under Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, teams are penalised five per cent of their players’ match fees for every over they fail to bowl within the allotted time.

Sri Lanka captain Kusal Mendis admitted the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, eliminating the need for a formal hearing.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, alongside third umpire Wayne Knights and fourth umpire Nassir Hussain.
