Firdous Shamim Naqvi Resigns as PTI Additional Secretary-General

Gohar Had Directed Naqvi to Issue Notice to Mishaal Yousafzai

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) –Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi has announced his resignation as the party’s additional secretary-general, clarifying that his decision was not driven by any grievance or disagreement.

Naqvi also said he had not yet issued a show-cause notice to PTI Senator Mishaal Yousafzai, despite earlier instructions from party chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan.

The development comes two days after Gohar directed Naqvi to issue a notice to Yousafzai over an alleged violation of party discipline.

In his earlier statement, Gohar said Naqvi had been instructed to initiate the process in response to what he described as a breach of party rules.

“I have always supported the right of everyone to express their differences of opinion on the party platform,” Gohar said, adding that he did not take disagreements personally when they were raised through the appropriate party forum.

However, he said action could become necessary in certain circumstances. Gohar accused Yousafzai of publicly commenting on the party’s senior leadership in violation of party discipline and said she had previously been warned against such conduct.

Naqvi’s resignation comes amid the reported disagreement over the proposed show-cause notice, although he has stated that his decision was not prompted by any grievance or dispute.
