ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) Pakistan Beat Bangladesh by Six Wickets to Reach Asian Games Cricket Final

Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by six wickets in the first semi-final of the Asian Games 2026 cricket tournament on Thursday, securing a place in the final scheduled for October 3.

Batting first in Nishin, Japan, Bangladesh scored 111 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 13 overs. Pakistan successfully chased the target, finishing the innings with four wickets down to seal the victory.

Abdul Samad remained unbeaten on 30 runs, while Hasan Nawaz contributed 27 not out to guide Pakistan home. Bangladesh’s innings was led by Towhid Hridoy, who top-scored with 42 runs.

Pakistan captain Sahibzada Farhan won the toss and opted to field first. The match was shortened to 13 overs per side because of a wet outfield.

With the ball, Sufiyan Muqeem claimed three wickets for Pakistan, while Arafat Minhas picked up two wickets to restrict Bangladesh to 111.

Pakistan will now compete in the Asian Games cricket final on October 3.

Pakistan also advanced to the semi-finals of the Asian Games 2026 men’s volleyball competition after defeating India in straight sets in the quarter-final in Japan.

Pakistan won the match 3–0, taking the first set 25–19, the second 25–23 and the third 25–18. The contest lasted one hour and 20 minutes.

Pakistan accumulated 75 points during the match, compared with India’s 60. The Pakistani team scored 50 points through spikes and six through blocks, while India recorded 33 spike points and four block points.

Murad Khan led Pakistan’s scoring with 22 points, including 21 from spikes and one from service. Musawir Khan contributed seven points, Hamad added eight, and Usman Faryad scored nine.

The victory secured Pakistan’s place in the semi-finals of the men’s volleyball event at the Asian Games.
