India Refuses Pakistan's Demand for Neutral Venue at Hockey Championship
New Delhi: (Sports Desk) – Hockey India has rejected the Pakistan Hockey Federation’s (PHF) request to shift the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy matches involving Pakistan to a neutral venue.
Hockey India Secretary Bhola Nath Singh said there would be no change to the tournament venues and that Pakistan would have to travel to India if it wanted to participate in the competition.
He added that Bangladesh and Oman are among the reserve teams and could be considered as replacements if Pakistan decides not to take part in the tournament.
The Asian Hockey Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held from October 27 to November 5 in Mohali and Jalandhar.
The PHF had requested that the entire tournament, or at least Pakistan’s matches, be moved to a neutral venue, citing the prevailing situation and saying that it could not send the national team to India under the current circumstances.
The rejection means Pakistan faces a decision over whether to participate in the tournament under the existing arrangements or withdraw from the event.
