PILDAT Survey Reveals Rising Public Concerns Over Debt

ISLAMABAD: (News Desk) – The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has conducted a National Citizen Survey highlighting growing public concerns over the country’s economic and social challenges, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.

According to the survey, 66% of Pakistanis expressed serious concern over the country’s rising debt, reflecting widespread anxiety about the sustainability of the national economy.

The survey found that only 19% of respondents believed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme had contributed to economic stability in Pakistan, while 38% disagreed with the view.

Concerns over the growing use of narcotics were also high, with 79% of respondents expressing fear over an increase in drug use across the country.

Electricity shortages and inflation were identified as the leading challenges facing Pakistanis, according to the survey findings.

Meanwhile, 43% of respondents expressed distrust in reports and information concerning Pakistan’s foreign debt.

The survey also highlighted concerns over the social impact of social media. Around 56% of Pakistanis believed social media was a major factor behind the decline in social ethics.

However, 28% of respondents said there should be no ban on social media use, indicating differing public views on regulation and restrictions.

The findings reflect widespread concern among citizens over economic pressures, rising debt, inflation, electricity-related problems, narcotics use and the social impact of digital platforms.
