Islamabad Seals 11 Sheesha Cafes Following Islamabad High Court Orders

ISLAMABAD: (Health Reporter) – Authorities in the federal capital have launched a crackdown on sheesha cafes following orders from the Islamabad High Court (IHC), sealing 11 establishments during an operation on Thursday.

Assistant Commissioner Islamabad sealed three sheesha cafes in Sector E-11, six in the Civic Center and two in Sector I-8 as part of the enforcement drive.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon said the IHC directives would be implemented in letter and spirit. He added that no-objection certificates (NOCs) issued to all indoor cafes had been cancelled.

On Wednesday, Memon announced a complete ban on the operation of sheesha cafes across Islamabad after the IHC directed the district administration to formulate rules for regulating such establishments within one month.

In a post on X, the deputy commissioner said the ban had been imposed with immediate effect in compliance with the court’s orders and would remain in place until further directions.

The ban covers all types of sheesha cafes, including establishments holding NOCs as well as those operating in indoor or outdoor spaces.
