Misbah-ul-Haq Decides to Resign From PCB Selection Committee Amid Turmoil
ISLAMABAD: (Sports Reporter) Former Pakistan captain and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) selection committee member Misbah-ul-Haq has reportedly decided to step down from his position.
Sources close to Misbah said the former captain has chosen to part ways with the selection committee. However, the reasons behind his decision and details about the formal submission of his resignation have yet to emerge.
According to sources, Misbah has served the PCB with the required notice period. He is expected to formally leave the board once the notice period concludes.
The development comes amid growing uncertainty surrounding the Pakistan Test setup following the team’s back-to-back defeats during the England tour.
The PCB has already released seven players from the Test squad during the tour. The players include Mohammad Rizwan, Imam-ul-Haq, Salman Ali Agha, Aamer Jamal, Ali Usman, Owais Zafar and Khurram Shahzad.
The board has also parted ways with head coach Sarfraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul as changes continue within the national setup.
Meanwhile, opening batter Imam-ul-Haq has returned to Pakistan after missing the second Test because of an injury. His absence and injury have reportedly raised questions within the PCB, with the possibility of an inquiry also being considered.
