Jamrud Checkpost Attack Leaves Two Security Personnel Martyred

Police and FC officer killed as attackers strike Takhta Baig post in Khyber

KP Jamrud – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Jamrud checkpost attack has left two security personnel dead after unknown gunmen opened fire on a joint post in Khyber district. The assault targeted the Takhta Baig checkpost, where police and Frontier Constabulary troops were stationed together.

Officials said the attackers used both heavy and light weapons during the assault. Despite the sudden strike, security personnel responded quickly and pushed back the attackers before they could cause further damage.

Police officer Shamal Shalmani and FC soldier Nazir lost their lives during the exchange of fire. Both men were praised for standing their ground under dangerous conditions.

Soon after the attack, more police teams rushed to the checkpost. A search operation began in the surrounding area under the watch of District Police Officer Waqar Ahmad.

DPO Waqar Ahmad said the fallen officers displayed real bravery while doing their duty. He added that Khyber Police will keep fighting terrorism with full determination.

He also made it clear that those behind such attacks will never succeed in their harmful goals.

This is not the first such incident in the area. A month earlier, two policemen were hurt when a bomb exploded near a checkpost vehicle in a hilly part of Khyber. The injured officer in charge, Khushhal Ameen, was taken to hospital and later reported stable.

On that same day, another incident occurred in Bara, where attackers threw a hand grenade at a petrol station. The blast left two people injured and damaged several vehicles nearby. The wounded were shifted to a Peshawar hospital for treatment.

These repeated attacks highlight the ongoing security challenges faced by police and FC personnel in Khyber district. Authorities say operations will continue until peace is fully restored in the region.
