PSX Gains 398 Points on Strong Sectoral Buying

KSE-100 Rallies Over 1,000 Points Intraday Before Closing Higher

KARACHI: (Finance Reporter) –  The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed Monday’s trading session on a positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 397.83 points, or around 0.22%, to settle at 180,502.

The market remained in positive territory throughout the session as investors showed strong buying interest in key sectors, particularly oil and gas marketing, cement and banking stocks.

Oil-related equities received additional support amid renewed concerns over crude supplies. Tighter tanker movements through the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend heightened supply worries as the ongoing US-Iran conflict continued to influence market sentiment.

The benchmark index reached an intraday high of 181,158.86, representing a gain of 1,054.25 points, while its lowest level of the day stood at 180,281.75, still 177.14 points above the previous close.

Trading activity remained robust, with 511.22 million shares changing hands in KSE-100 companies during the session.

Of the 100 companies included in the benchmark, 43 stocks closed higher, while 57 ended the session in negative territory.

Despite mixed participation across index constituents, gains in key heavyweight sectors helped the market maintain its upward trajectory and finish the session firmly in positive territory.
