KARACHI: (Finance Reporter) – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index ending the session in negative territory after a day of volatile trading.
At the close of business, the KSE-100 Index settled at 177,623.88 points, down 638.45 points, or 0.36%, from the previous close of 178,262.33.
Investor sentiment remained cautious throughout the session as profit-taking weighed on the market. Although the index recovered from its early losses, it was unable to sustain positive momentum by the closing bell.
Earlier in the trading session, the benchmark index dropped to 177,914.38 points at 9:39am, reflecting a decline of 347.95 points (0.20%), before recovering part of the losses.
PSX Selling Grips Market as Trump Reimposes Iran Blockade
The market touched an intraday high of 179,123.00 points and a low of 177,903.87 points, highlighting heightened volatility as investors adjusted their positions.
Trading activity remained strong, with approximately 339.48 million shares exchanged during the session, while the total value of traded shares stood at around Rs19.71 billion.
The decline followed Monday’s strong rally, when the PSX rebounded sharply after several sessions of selling pressure. The KSE-100 Index had surged 7,241.13 points, or 4.23%, to close at 178,262.33 points, driven by broad-based buying across major sectors.
