West Indies Take 155-Run Lead Against Pakistan in First Test

TAROUBA: (Sports Desk) – The first Test match between Pakistan and the West Indies has entered a crucial stage, with the hosts securing a 155-run lead by the end of the third day in Tarouba.

West Indies reached 126 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their second innings at stumps on Day 3, after a dramatic day dominated by both teams’ bowling attacks.

The third day witnessed a total of 14 wickets falling, as West Indian bowlers first dismissed the remaining seven Pakistan batters from their first innings before Pakistan’s bowling attack responded strongly to put the visitors under pressure.

After gaining a 29-run first-innings advantage, West Indies endured a difficult start to their second innings as Pakistan’s fast bowlers struck repeatedly. The home side lost four wickets before reaching the 50-run mark.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul was the top scorer for West Indies with 35 runs, while Justin Greaves contributed 20 runs before being dismissed.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Abbas led the bowling attack with three wickets, while Khurram Shahzad claimed two. Aamer Jamal and Mohammad Ali picked up one wicket each.

Earlier, Pakistan resumed their first innings at 199 for three and appeared in a strong position after captain Shan Masood scored a brilliant century, making 109 runs. Imam-ul-Haq also played a valuable innings of 63 runs.

However, Pakistan’s lower order collapsed, with the final seven wickets falling for just 38 runs. West Indies bowler Justin Greaves produced a remarkable performance, taking five wickets in an innings for the first time in his career.

With two days remaining, the Test remains evenly poised, with West Indies holding a significant but potentially challenging lead as Pakistan look to complete a comeback with the ball.
