Pakistan Uncovers India-Linked Digital Disinformation Network: Atta Tarar

ISLAMABAD: (Mudassar Iqbal/ News Desk) – Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Sunday claimed that Pakistani security agencies had uncovered an India-linked digital disinformation network allegedly involved in spreading anti-Pakistan propaganda through social media.

Speaking to the media, Tarar said a person providing digital marketing services had recently been arrested by security agencies. According to the minister, investigations revealed that the suspect’s digital operations were linked to India and that payments for promoting anti-Pakistan content were allegedly made from across the border.

He alleged that a network of bot farms was being used to amplify misinformation targeting Pakistan, its sovereignty, the government, the armed forces, the Chief of Army Staff, and state institutions. Tarar said investigators also found that much of the content circulated by the suspect related to the banned Joint Action Committee in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The minister accused the group of attempting to undermine the Kashmir cause, weaken the relationship between Pakistan and the people of Kashmir, and incite unrest through violent protests. He claimed the government possesses “irrefutable evidence” linking the group’s activities to India.

Tarar further alleged that artificial intelligence was used to manipulate old videos and falsely portray them as recent incidents from Kashmir to spread misinformation on social media.

He said the investigation into the arrested suspect is ongoing and stressed that countering misinformation and protecting national security remain the government’s responsibility.

The minister also said Pakistan had achieved success against India on both military and diplomatic fronts and reaffirmed that the country would continue its path toward peace, stability, and development under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
