Sharjeel Memon Rejects Farooq Sattar’s Karachi Control Demand
Minister Sharjeel Memon Calls Farooq Sattar’s Karachi Demand Political Blackmailing
KARACHI: (Web Desk) – Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has criticised MQM-P leader Farooq Sattar for calling on the federal government to take control of Karachi, describing the demand as political blackmailing.
Reacting to Farooq Sattar’s press conference on Saturday, Memon said any move to place Karachi under federal control would amount to a conspiracy against the federation and provincial autonomy.

He said the MQM-P was relying on shortcuts instead of seeking a public mandate, adding that the party had lost the confidence of voters. Memon maintained that political influence could only be gained through public support and electoral votes.
The provincial minister said the people of Sindh had given a clear mandate to the PPP, which could not be altered through press conferences, threats or pressure tactics.
Memon also questioned the MQM-P’s performance while being part of the federal government, asking why it had failed to fulfil commitments made to Karachi’s residents. He vowed that the Sindh government would protect Karachi’s public mandate, constitutional rights and provincial powers.
