National Assembly Approves FBR Amendment Bill 2026 and Key Budget Measures
National Assembly – (Web Desk) – The National Assembly has passed the FBR Amendment Bill 2026 passage with a majority vote, marking a significant step in Pakistan’s financial legislation. The bill was approved during an important parliamentary session in Islamabad.
The House also began the process of approving supplementary grants for federal ministries and divisions for the financial year 2024-25. Several major approvals were made during the session.
The Airports Security Force received approval for Rs 64.8 million in supplementary grants. The Cabinet Division was granted Rs 300 million, while the Commerce Division received a major Rs 5.61 billion approval.
The Defence Division’s demand of Rs 1.252 billion was approved. Federal Educational Institutions Garrison received Rs 1.436 billion. Defence services secured the highest single approval at Rs 22.86 billion.
The Power Division received the largest grant of Rs 43.10 billion. With these approvals, the complete budget approval process in the National Assembly came to an end.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented the Auditor General of Pakistan reports for 2024-25 and 2025-26 before the House.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar addressed the assembly and praised the role of all four provinces in providing federal grants. He confirmed that this money will be used for defence and other important national matters.
Ishaq Dar said Pakistan was the first and only country to condemn the attack on Iran. He added that Pakistan’s efforts helped achieve a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
He revealed that both Iran and the US chose Pakistan as a trusted mediator. Dar congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for Pakistan’s successful diplomacy. He said Pakistan played a strong and active role in bringing peace to the region.
