France – (Web Desk) – The Bundibugyo virus Ebola outbreak Congo has now killed 267 people and infected over 1,000. Health authorities say the risk to the general public remains low, but a patient has been placed in isolation as a precaution.

This outbreak is breaking records. The World Health Organization says more confirmed cases were reported in the first month than in any previous Ebola episode in history.

The outbreak is caused by the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola. This is a particularly dangerous type because WHO has not approved any drugs or vaccines for it yet. Authorities are testing four vaccine candidates, but clinical trials have not started.

Two doctors infected with the virus were flown to Germany and the Czech Republic last month for treatment. This shows the outbreak is drawing serious international attention.

Ebola is a deadly disease that can kill up to 90 percent of infected patients. Common symptoms include high fever, body pain, nausea, diarrhea, rash, and in some cases bleeding. Survivors are not always safe either. The virus can come back months or even years after recovery.

Health officials are closely monitoring the situation and working to stop further spread.
