Dr Mahnoor Recovering, Major Surgery Not Required

Acid Attack Victim Dr Mahnoor Showing Signs of Recovery

QUETTA: (Web Desk)  – Doctors treating Dr. Mahnoor Nasir at Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi have said that she does not require a major surgical procedure following the acid attack she suffered in Quetta last week. Medical experts believe facial grafting will be sufficient as part of her recovery process.

A team comprising plastic surgeons and eye specialists conducted Dr. Mahnoor’s third comprehensive medical assessment on Tuesday. According to sources, she sustained injuries to her face, eyes, lips, and nose during the attack.

Sources further revealed that Dr. Mahnoor’s family is satisfied with the medical care being provided at the hospital. Officials from both the Sindh and Balochistan governments remain in contact with the doctor and her family regarding her treatment and wellbeing.

Medical sources have confirmed that Dr. Mahnoor is out of danger, with no threat to her life or any body part. Encouragingly, her eyesight has remained unaffected despite injuries near both eyes. Specialists continue to closely monitor her condition and recovery.

Hospital officials previously reported that approximately 13 percent of Dr. Mahnoor’s body suffered burn injuries, including parts of her face, abdomen, legs, and right hand. She remains under observation in the hospital’s Special Care Unit, where doctors are evaluating her progress and determining further treatment requirements.

Health Minister Launches Crackdown on Pakistan Nursing Council

Meanwhile, government doctors across Balochistan have continued their strike in protest against the acid attack on their colleague, causing disruption to healthcare services in Quetta and other parts of the province.

The suspect accused of carrying out the attack, identified as Humayun Khan, was later killed during a police encounter. Authorities also recovered weapons from his possession.

Earlier, Sindh government spokesperson Saadia Javed visited Dr. Mahnoor on the instructions of Faryal Talpur, expressing solidarity with the young doctor and assuring her that the provincial government stands with her during this difficult time. She described the attack as a deeply disturbing incident and stressed that such acts have no place in a civilized society.
