Israeli strike kills soldiers in southern Lebanon
Lebanon Israel tensions rise amid fragile ceasefire
Beirut: (Web Desk) Several Lebanese soldiers were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a military vehicle in southern Lebanon, according to the Lebanese army, coming just days after renewed diplomatic efforts for a conditional ceasefire mediated in the United States.
The army said an officer was among those killed in what it described as a strike on the Khardali–Nabatieh road, as tensions continue despite an earlier truce announced in April that has repeatedly been violated. Both Israel and Hezbollah have accused each other of breaching ceasefire terms, fueling continued hostilities along the border.
Israel has since issued new evacuation orders for multiple villages in southern and eastern Lebanon, citing Hezbollah’s alleged violations and expanding military operations in response. The latest US-linked proposal reportedly includes Hezbollah withdrawal from border areas and deployment of the Lebanese army to designated zones, though Hezbollah has rejected the plan, demanding full Israeli withdrawal.

Meanwhile, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun has urged non-interference from Iran, warning against using Lebanon as a geopolitical bargaining tool, while calling for dialogue and diplomacy as the only viable path to stability amid growing regional escalation.
